ORBYTALYTE
1- THE GAME
Orbitalyte is a puzzle game based on the use of gravity. The sole objective is to guide the spaceship from the starting planet to the destination planet without colliding with anything. The planets feature a gravity field that the ship uses to navigate the level and reach its destination.
The retro aesthetic, featuring mechanical buttons and CRT screens, gives the game a nostalgic feel that appeals to all audiences.
With clear influences from N++ and Puzzle Bubble, Orbitalyte aims to add a new layer of gameplay to the genre with fresh mechanics and addictive levels.
2- THE GAMEPLAY
The system is simple. Launch the ship by adjusting the power and try to reach the destination planet without colliding with any elements. Utilizing the planets’ gravity is essential if you want to complete the levels.
But wait, there’s more. Every level has 3 achievements you can complete:
1. Complete the level: the easiest achievement. It’s automatically awarded when you finish the level.
2. Get the star: In every level, there’s a star placed on the hardest route to reach. This creates an in-game difficulty system that rewards players who want to try more challenging paths. If getting the star is too difficult, you can skip it and proceed through the game as usual.
3- THE ART
The screen is filled with buttons, and the UI transports us to 1960s sci-fi with lights and analog components everywhere. All buttons make a sound when pressed, and the CRT filter gives the game the feel of being played on a retro computer.
The spaceship has a childlike aesthetic, and the planets are colorful and funky, making each area unique and instantly recognizable. The game is divided into 10 levels, each with a different theme, which is reflected in the visuals.
The planetary area has an inward-focused design that makes the core mechanics easily recognizable.
4- THE FUTURE
Currently, only the demo is playable—the 8 levels of the first zone.
